History
Volt-ampere was formed inside 1790 of a a portion of Lower Provence, however inside 1860 it was reduced by the transport of the district of Grasse to the newly formed département of the Alpes-Maritimes, which is why a Var River does not now flow in the département to which it gives its title.

Geography
Volt-ampere is bounded on the northward per département of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (the Verdon river forming the boundary), on the east by that of the Alpes-Maritimes, on the south per Mediterranean Sea, and on the west per département of the Bouches-du-Rhône.

Its region is 5,973 klick², its greatest length is astir 62 miles, & its greatest breadth astir 56 miles.
